Services
ipXchange provides several Services on Hardware, Software and more...
Roll Out Services (ROS)
Configuration / Roll Out Services (ROS)
We are continually monitoring and improving our Commissioning operations to ensure that they are aligned to the business needs of our customers and are capable of integrating into a managed service solution. The elements of the Commissioning Cycle are:
- DOA Testing
- Asset Tagging
- Hardware Build & Image Loading
- Bespoke User Customization
- On Going Image Management
DOA Testing
DOA testing ensures that products are functional and operating to the correct manufacturer specification prior to dispatch to the customer.
During a rigorous assessment process all products on an order are unboxed, visually inspected for cosmetic damage, assembled to reflect User installation, powered up and tested for functionality and performance. Failures at this stage are automatically replaced from product in stock and a re-test undertaken.
On completion of testing and Quality Assurance sign-off, the products are returned to their packaging and sealed, ready for dispatch following our normal procedures.
This service is critical when deploying large quantities of equipment, as it massively reduces early life failures and the disruption caused arranging replacements and collections.
Asset Tagging
IT equipment needs to be added to the corporate asset inventory at an early stage in the procurement cycle to assist deployment and establish an audit trail. ipXchange can capture details to update the asset inventory and fix identification tags as part of the Commissioning process.
The asset details recorded will be agreed with Client, as is the design, content and positioning of asset labels. This ensures alignment with internal processes and inventory management requirements. Asset inventory updates are provided electronically within agreed service level thresholds. In its simplest form, the data captured is recorded on the system and appears on the dispatch note on completion of the task.
Undertaking this function in the Commissioning Complex at a pre-delivery stage enables the Installation Teams to focus on the technical aspects of commissioning and data migration at the User’s desk.
Image Loading
Standards Definition
Defining hardware and software image standards is crucial to establishing control over distributed desktop estates, enabling tighter asset inventory management and software license compliance, more efficient and proactive User support and enhancing test and rollout of new technologies.
Deployment
Procedures are jointly defined and documented and image naming conventions agreed and distributed to aid smooth product ordering and avoid doubt during deployment, as each order clearly states the procedure to follow.
When building a system, ipXchange undertakes the following:
- Formatting of disk drives to agreed standards
- Installation of operating systems to agreed standards
- Installation of options, such as adapters, tape drives or memory
- Installation of generic ‘base build’ to agreed standards – this can be by direct download from dedicated file servers
- Virus checks to agreed standards
- Diagnostic checks to include all elements that should be fully tested for operability
- Asset label and record
- Re-box for delivery
IMAC services
Installation (IMAC) services can be provided to support day to day requirements for the installation of new equipment or the scheduled installation of higher volumes of equipment as the result of a project roll-out.
Optional elements of the service:
- Deliver to Desk
- User Configuration
- Personality migration

Systems Engineering
Systems engineering typically involves the deployment of skilled hands-on engineers in a distributed systems environment. ipXchange selected System Engineers are industry accredited, with many year’s experience and practical understanding of implementation solutions.
Rack Services
This is a high quality, professional installation within the rack mount environment, ranging from a single server installation to multiple cabinet solutions and configurations. We also undertake rework of existing installations to make better use of free space within each rack. The service ensures compliance with all the required standards. Installations are aesthetically pleasing and adaptable for future requirements.
Server installation moves or changes typically occur out of core business hours and most customers have difficulty in balancing this activity with standard IT related core service hour’s activity and resource availability. We can remove this issue by the utilization of our Rack Server teams
Installations
The installation of pre-configured PC, Laptops, Printers, Scanners and any other type of desktop equipment with the least amount of disruption to the Customer’s environment. Often there will be legacy desktop equipment that requires removal before the new PC can be installed, necessitating some form of data transfer between the old and new.
Network connection and configuration is also an integral part of the IMAC (Installations, Moves & Changes) Service. This may also include the installation of software drivers and other required applications.
Moves
Decommissioning – power down and disconnect – desktop equipment and move to another location. This may be in the same office, between offices, between buildings.
Moves between sites involve packaging equipment in bubble wrap for protection and labeling for identification purposes. Larger scale moves will often need the involvement of arranged transport.
Additions
Primarily to add hardware upgrades such as memory, hard disks, network cards and other devices to desktop equipment. Software transfer or restoration and virus software activities can become an integral part of the service.
Change services
Technology changes to desktop and Server operating systems, applications, hardware devices and peripherals. These can involve:
- Re-imaging the PC/Serer
- Upgrading software application versions and installing service packs
- Manage removals associated with any personnel leaving Organization
